Fall is in the air...

Today we headed over to Stoney Creek Farm for a hay ride and a walk through the pumpkin patch. The weather was perfect for long sleeves and a light sweatshirt. We found a pumpkin that we liked but opted to just buy a couple later from the grocery store. Anneliese and Emmeline played on the swings and slides for a bit. Anneliese took a ride in the "pumpkin train." Turned out to be a really nice day.

What happened to September?

Sorry for the lack of posting in September. Here we are in October. Some great things coming up this month like Halloween. I have plenty of pictures and a few videos that I need to catch up on for everyone to see how much Anneliese and Emmeline have grown this summer! More to come on that...check back soon.

The new TV season has started for many shows. Here is what you will find us watching:

Survivor
Biggest Loser (no link because NBC's website sucks!)
Law and Order: SVU (again NBC)
Bengals (when it is our misfortune that they are actually televised)
Colts (is it time to jump of the band wagon?)
Criminal Minds

What are we reading?

Liz is reading 1-2-3 Magic and we will soon be better parents for it (I am next on the list to read it)
Don reads "a vast variety of sources"

Shifting gears on the blog

I've decided to make the main focus of this blog all things family related. I seem to have drifted that way this year as posting about running has given way to posts about birthdays, etc. Since running is still an important hobby and fundraising effort for me I have created a second blog related to Anneliese's Road Racers for Resaearch. Be sure to visit that site if you are interested in keeping up with my training and fundraising efforts. Also, if you would like to participate as a team member of AR3 at future events I will create a log in for you so that you can keep us up to date with your training through blog entries on the AR3 website.

Olympic medalists

Congrats to Mary and David for winning a Gold and Silver medal respectively. Mary was part of the 4X400 meter track relay that took Gold while David reached Silver in the men's 110 hurdles. The UC community is proud of them, they represented us so well!

August is almost over and this is my first post of the month?

Wow, this month is going by fast. I will try to get caught up the best I can in one post. Here we go.

Chasing Down the Cure Race Report

The race had a nice turn out for an inaugural event. Close to 90 participants were on hand. The race director, Brian, and his wife Alicia did a great job organizing everything. I think that our friends and family made up about 1/5 of the participants. We'd like to thank everyone for coming out for the race.

The course was tough. It was two laps around a hilly course that was half paved and half grass. I pushed Anneliese in her jog stroller. It was funny, I got off to a fast start and was about 7th or 8th on the hard surface, then when we hit the grass the stroller felt like I was pushing a refrigerator through mud. We got passed left and right as we slugged along. When we got back on the concrete we regained some momentum. As we hit the grass for a second time we took it easy. Anneliese got out of the stroller and ran/walked for a little bit while collecting high fives and cheers from passing runners. Overall we finished in abou 32 minutes but Anneliese's sprint to the finish was much faster.

Liz walked with a group of her college friends. They had a good time strolling around the course and catching up with one another.

After the race Anneliese got her picture taken with Jesse who also has NF. This picture has been making the rounds at the NF Endurance team headquarters. They are a couple of cute kids if I do say so.

The day after the race I left the house at 4 a.m. for a flight to West Palm Beach, Florida and my companies summer sales meeting. I was in Florida for a week enjoying the sun and beach when time permitted and a few drinks here and there. The sales district that I am in did a spoof of "We are the World" for a talent contest. Syd, a coworker who sits on the other side of the wall from me, and I penned the new lyrics and put things together. Our group ended up taking home the grand prize. Luckily there is no youtube video of the event to hold over our heads.

Colts Stadium Tour

The Colts offered the general public a self guided tour of the new stadium. I tried to get tickets online for the event but missed out. Luckily Syd and another coworker, Chris, had a pair of extra tickets each which they passed along to me. SO Liz and I took the girls and met up with Chris, his wife Sarah, Syd, and his girlfriend Katie at the staium to take a look around.

The new stadium is massive. We were able to tour the concourse, the lower stands and the field. We could have entered the visitors locker room but there was a 45 minute wait and Emmeline was getting fussy.

We took a few shots, here are the one's that turned out. Apparently my hand wasn't very steady with the camera since the shots of the field and the far end zone were shaky.

Back to school

On Monday Anneliese started her 3rd year of preschool. She had a fun day and is looking forward to a great school year. She even got her first homework assignment ever. She has to do an art project where she decorates a gingerbread man looking figure. Not too much help from mom and dad the directions say.
